The opera star Alfie Boe has performed at some of the most prestigious venues across the country including at the O2, the Royal Opera House and the English National Opera. On 25 July he is going to be performing after the racing event taking place at Sandown Park.
The singer used to work in car manufacturing in Blackpool and he was heard singing by a customer who came to the business. They went on to arrange a place for him to study at the Royal College of Music. He won a Tony Award for his performance of La Boheme, the Broadway adaptation by Baz Lurhmann.
He has also released two albums which have reached the top 10 in the UK and have sold around 750,000 units. He had his first tour earlier in the year and every night was sold out.
The managing director of Sandown Park is David MacKinnon and he has commented, “We are delighted that someone of such musical calibre is coming to perform at Sandown Park. We have no doubt that it is going to be an incredible performance. We are also delighted to be able to welcome Tom Jones and Jessie J to the venue this August.”
