The front man of Go West, Peter Cox, will release his 5th solo album titled “ Riding the Blinds” via the Dream Theatre Music Group on the 21st of January, 2013. The album has 12 tracks and features a blend of Alternative Country and Americana spiced with excitingcountry and rock riffs that truly showcases Cox’s vocal talent.
The songs are redolent of the spirit emanating from Nashville, the world’s song writing capital. Some were penned by notable Nashville songwriters like Brad Crisler, who wrote songs for Kenny Chesney and Brooks and Dunn. Bobby Terry, who wrote songs popularised by Tim McGraw, Faith Hil, Trace Adkins, and Brad Paisley, also wrote several songs for Peter Cox’s album.
As did John Goodwin , who wrote the phenomenal original soundtrack for Crazy Heart. Catth Gravitt, SESAC 2012 winner of the coveted Songwriter of the Year, also wrote a couple of songs on the album.
Other songs have been written by Nashville ’Americana/Alt Country’ writers such as Jabe Beyer and the UK’s own Owen James Harvey from City Lights Music, and critically acclaimed writer / producer Chris Corney.
“Riding The Blinds’ is an opportunity for me to record a collection of songs by some of Nashville’s most accomplished writers. It has been a fascinating challenge to interpret material which I haven’t written and tailored to my voice – and I’m really excited about the results. The ‘Americana’ genre is new territory for me. I’ve enjoyed the chance to explore my capabilities as a singer – and refuse to be ‘typecast’” – Peter Cox
